GENERAL INFORMATION

The history of our Company goes back to 1978 and is connected with creating in Mikrohuta the Implant Production Department. From the very beginning our company systematically broadened the range of products making implants of higher quality and effectiveness.

In 1982 "Group for studies on osteosynthesis" was created. The Group consisted of doctors from the Teaching Hospital of Ministry of Interior in Warsaw and specialists form the Mikromed. The work of the group resulted in new system of stable osteosynthesis called "ZESPOLENIE POLSKIE" [POLISH OSTEOSYNTHESIS], shortly "ZESPOL". In 1986, during the International Medical Show SALMED'86, bone plate stabilizer of ZESPOL was awarded with GOLD AESCULAPE medal. The method was developed and improved in the next years. In 1988 Baildon Steelwork signed the contract for the sale of license for ZESPOL method with OSTEO company of Switzerland.

In the years 1990-1992 assortment of goods acc. to AO method was made up, which made the offer of the Company comparable to offers of foreign manufacturers.

Medical products made by "MIKROHUTA" were again awarded GOLDEN AESCULAPE medal at International Medical Show SALMED 1992 and at Polish and foreign exhibitions in later years, as for example:

	SILVER MEDAL at the 43rd International Exhibition "BRUSSELS EUREKA" in 1994 in Brussels,
	award of the Ministry of Co-operation with Foreign Countries in 1994,
	diploma of the Committee of Scientific Research in 1995,
	BRONZE MEDAL at "IENA" Exhibition in 1995 in Nuremberg.

In 1996 production of new stabilizing-manipulation system called POLFIX was started and it was awarded in the same year at the 5th European Fair TEC'96 in Grenoble. The products made acc. to ZESPOL and POLFIX methods were particularly successful in 1997, when they were awarded in Poland and abroad:

	"TERAZ POLSKA" promotion emblem,
	GOLD MEDAL at the exhibition in London PITSBURGH'97,
	GOLD MEDAL at the exhibition in the USA.

In 2000 the realization of investments connected with the adaptation of production conditions to the current medical branch requirements was completed.

At the same time the Quality Management System according to EN ISO 9001 and EN 46001 norms, which include all GMP guidelines for medical products was enforced.

In 2002 Mikromed was awarded by the Business Initiative Directions with the International Award WQC for the engagement in the products quality improvement.

Also in 2002 the Company VALBRUNA Polska Sp. z o.o. bought 55% shares of Mikromed.

In 2003 Mikromed received certificates TŰV-Cert, TŰV-Nord , which confirm that the Quality Management System meets the requirements of EN ISO 9001:2000, EN ISO 13485:2003 and the products meet the requirements of 93/42/EWG and can be marked with the CE mark. These certificates are the basis of building the trust of our customers and confirm that our products meet the very high quality requirements.

The experience of Mikromed helps in better satisfying the needs of our customers.

PRODUCTS

Mikromed manufactures implants and instruments for orthopedics, traumatology and veterinary medicine. Products of Mikromed permit to perform an osteosynthesis by the means of its basic methods:

1.      Plate osteosynthesis,
2.      Intra-medulla osteosynthesis,
3.      External osteosynthesis.

The fourth type of osteosynthesis, which joins the advantages of plate and external osteosynthesis, consists of plate stabilizers ZESPOL and POLFIX.

Mikromed offers the following products:

screws, plates, nails, wires and instruments,

screws, plates, instruments according to ZESPOL method,

screws, plates, instruments according to POLFIX method,

cannulated screws and instruments,

MIKROMED and DYNASTAB external stabilizers,

the Dynamical Hip System (DSB),

interlocking nails,

INTEGRACJA® system.

Construction of the ZESPOL stabilizer guarantees the automatic chip pressure within exactly established parameters. Mechanical connection of screws with a plate enables to place the stabilizer at a different distance from the bone, which makes ZESPOL more useful. Main advantages of ZESPOL are:

the ability to place the plate under the skin or over the skin,

the elimination of harmful plate compression to the bone,

the elimination of bone fragments skeletonizing,

the decrease of operation extensiveness,

the ability to make compression, neutralization, contact and bridge osteosynthesis,

the ability to combine stabilizers,

the elimination of initial plate bending,

the elimination of second operation necessity while removing the stabilizer placed over the skin,

97% treatment effectiveness.

System POLFIX was created as a result of analysis and structural research aimed at formation of stabilizer, and has the following advantages:

the minimal risk of bone fragments displacement while applying the stabilizer,

the ability to correct bone fragments position without bearing plate removal,

the increase of clinical use possibilities with relation to others applied methods.

The latest product of Mikromed is DYNASTAB 2000 – dynamical external stabilizer for treatment of:

fractures of the diaphysis,

articular and periarticular fractures of the astragalar joint,

articular and periarticular fractures of the elbow joint,

fractures of the pelvis

fractures of the wrist.

DYNASTAB stabilizers are equipped with computer measuring system for monitoring and quantitative assessment of the union process, which makes DYNASTAB the stabilizer of the IVth generation.
