PRIOR APPLICATION
UNPACKED INSTRUMENTS SHOULD BE CLEANED AND STERILISED
BHH Mikromed
surgical implants are manufactured according to international standards
of corrosion-proof steel showing in most cases magnetic properties.
Every instrument manufactured of corrosion-proof steel that is not dealt
with proper care and defined recommendations is put in jeopardy of
corrosion, experience of stains or damage.
Surgical implants may be used solely in conformity of purpose.
Cleaning,
sterilisation and storage
Surgical
instruments launched into the market are unsterile. Brand new
instruments after their unpacking should be cleaned before sterilisation.
Sterilise directly before application.
Directly after application instruments should be cleaned with warm water
with a plastic brush. Wire brushes should not be used. Purpose of
cleaning is to remove all blood, tissues and fluids. Solely cleaning and
disinfecting agents approved for medical application may be used. These
agents additionally contain corrosion inhibitors. Cleaned and rinsed
instruments should be carefully dried. Instruments consisting of a few
elements should be dismounted for cleaning and drying. Hinges of
instruments after each cleaning and drying but prior to sterilisation
should be lubricated with paraffin oil.
It is recommended steam high pressure sterilizing in autoclaves in
temperature of 121°C,
in overpressure of 1 atm. during 15 min /these parameters should be
considered as minimal/ according to procedures and instructions of
sterilising.
Rules of usage of all cleaning, disinfecting and sterilisation devices
as well as temperature and duration should be strictly observed.
Carefully cleaned and dried elements should be covered with a thin
lubricant layer and stored in temperature 5 – 30°
C and relative humidity not exceeding 70%.
Warnings
Instruments
should be applied in compliance with good medical practice and as
directed regarding recommendations and the following warnings:
 |
Before
beginning of the operation, it is crucial to become certain if all
necessary implants and instruments have been prepared. It is also
necessary to check if all prepared implants and instruments are
compatible with one another. |
 |
Worn,
deformed, blunt or defective instruments must not be used. |
 |
Due to
magnetic properties of instruments influence of magnetic and
electromagnetic fields should be taken under
consideration. |
 |
Slow-speed
boring machines should be used for drilling. |
 |
It is
forbidden to beat the instruments or their parts as it may cause
deformation or damage. |
 |
Forces
imposed while instruments using must be adjusted to strength and
condition of bones. |
 |
Before
finishing of the operation it is necessary to control if all
instruments or their parts have been removed from the operative
area. |
